YellowAutumnSet

I designed YellowAutumn mittens and headband. For the decoration I used two Single Cable chains. The yarn is Drops Air mix yarn (65% alpaca, 28% polyamide, 7% merino wool) ( 50g = 150m).

The mittens and twisted cross headband make a perfect match together. They are for the Yule 2026. My mother-in-law will have these then.

YellowAutumnMittens

I designed and knit these beautiful Yellow Autumn mittens. They are decorated by single cables. I used Drops Air mix yarn (65% alpaca, 28% polyamide, 7% merino wool) ( 50g = 150m). I kind of like it. It has a special structure and it feels very soft. These are not for me.

SingleCable Headband No1

I designed and made this Aran Single Cable headband from the real true begin to the final end. It is a real FashionNOW product. Inspired by my Dublin journeys with very fashionable stripes in Aran knitiwear.

My friend used to have an arctic mix bred dog. She used to collect its loose hair for us to be used in our project where we collect arctic dog and Finn Sheep wool to get our own wool yarn OOW.

It has been a long term project because I have hand spun the last remaining wool of her dog whose last wool she gave me. She has no idea I have been making hand spun yarn for her made of 100% of her dear dog friend's wool. At the end, after finishing the spinning, I have plant dyed the yarn by mushrooms.

Then I figured out what on earth to do with it. I wanted to make something she can wear/use but something that will last. That's how I ended up making her SingleCable Headband No1. It is really thick because I made it double layered. It will warm her head and heart. She will receive this very soon as a birthday gift. 💝

True Afterthought Heel

I designed and knit woollen socks with True Afterthought Heels. It is funny but the true shade of the white yarn is natural white but it looks like beige in the pictures. I took many pictures and it is always beige, never natural white! The white yarn I used is from my old collection I have inherit in 2010. It is Finnish 100% wool called Syreeni (50g = 150m). The pink yarn is Red Heart (100% acrylic, 50g = 185m).

I was a bit worried if the natural white yarn can be seen proper in the pics but for sure you can! That is only good so we don't mind about the weird beige shade in the pics.

I used Single Cables to decorate the socks which otherwise are plain. The tiny cables are cute little decorations.

I knit True Afterthought Heels for the 1st time ever. You can see it in industrially manufactured socks. Despite it is the most common manufactured heel in socks it is not very durable. These are going to be night socks for someone who is not a sleep walker so these socks don't need to be able to bear stress on the heels.

Dutch Heel No4 (var.)

I designed and knit this pretty pair of woollen socks. It is inspired by my Ireland Erasmus+ journey 2025 with my students and the visit at the IrelandsEye Knitwear factory. For the socks I used Novita 7 veljestä yarn (75 % wool, 25% polyamide) (100g = 200m) in green shade and AAW (50% our own ethic produced arctic angora wool, 40% ethic produced FinnSheep wool, 10% nylon) (100g = 238m) which I plant dyed by fire weed.

For the decorative knitting I used Single cable and mosaic stitch. In these socks you can find the mosaic stitches in the green stripes. To knit the mosaic stitches you use only the stripe shade so you knit by just one yarn (it is not Fair Isle). You knit the 1st row, then purl the 2nd. BUT you need just to slip the stitches between the stripes. It is very easy, just try it on.

For example in this version I knit on the 1st row "knit 4 - slip 2" and on the 2nd row "purl 4 - slip 2".

I knit Dutch heel variation with seed stitch. Seed stitch is very easy and pretty. It is suitable for the beginners who want to learn to knit something else than just plain. You can use seed stitch just a little bit, only for few rows. Or you can do even double seed stitch for bigger surfaces.

To get the seed stitch surface you just need to purl every stitch and knit every purl stitch:
            1. knit-purl-knit
            2. purl- knit-purl

StarDustSet

I designed and knit easy mittens. I used fabulous Novita Tähti yarn (74% wool, 25% polyamidi, 1% polyester) (100g = 200m). The shades of the yarn vary so you need just to knit. Can it be any easier when you are busy but still want to make something special for someone special.

The yarn has 1% of polyamidi which creates some metallic star dust effect. I always knit a bit loose mittens. To stay warm in arctic we wear leather gloves under the mittens. Then the wind can't get through, you have double layer (mittens+gloves) and no matter how sensitive your skin is it doesn't itch because of the wool.

I designed and knit also the matching leg warmers. They form out a pretty set together. I used Single Cables to decorate them.

AAW Mittens No5

I designed and knit AAW Mittens No5 to match with AAW SingleClableSocks NO4. I used our faboulous AAW yarn (50% our own ethic produced arctic angora wool, 40% ethic produced FinnSheep wool and 10% nylon) (100g = 238m).

I knit single cables to decorate the mittens and to make them match better with the socks. The socks and mittens form out together a warm pair for chilly weathers.

KnittedGloves No3

I designed and knit the 3rd pair of white knitted gloves. The yarn is 100% wool. I used single cables to decorate and keep these gloves in fit.Knitting gloves demands a bit patience but I find it charming. I find knitting gloves similar compared to embroidery. Sometimes it just flows on and then there are parts where you need to pay a lot of attention and concentrate.

KnittedGloves No2

I designed and knit another pair of woollen gloves. The design is similar to AAW Simple Gloves No1 and the 100% woollen yarn is similar to the one I used in KnittedGloves No1. The gloves are decorated by single gables. I think I am going to fall in love knitting gloves...

KnittedGloves No1

I designed and knit a pair of white 100% woollen gloves. You know it from the sheep scent! The wool I used is old. Those who have been reading this blog for a while know that I inherit quite much materials from my grandmother who passed away on 2010. This white yarn without label is part of the collection. I wind these skeins last Eastern. Now I have finally discovered what to do with them: gloves. This pair is decorated by single cable and double seed stitches.

Actually, this January my blog celebrates 10 year anniversary! I started after graduating as physiotherapist on December 2010. The blog was based to show my craft to my friends living faraway. During these years the blog has helped to keep up my old profession of cloth and textile designer which globalization had taken away from me.

MeditationSet No2

Earlier this autumn I designed and knit MeditationSet No1. It is for a friend far away. Now I have designed and knit MeditationSet No2 for myself. The set no2 includes mittens instead of hand warmers because of my arctic location to keep me warm during the winter meditation moments.

I used white Novita`s 7 veljestä yarn (75 % wool, 25% polyamide) (100g = 200m) and different shade of blue Kaupunkilanka yarn (75 % wool, 25% polyamide) (100g = 200m) than I used in the set no1.

This set differs a bit from the set no1. In addition to the mittens this has single cable decorations. Both sets have snow balls to remind us all about the importance to save the vulnerable arctic nature.

WhiteHandWarmers

I've finished my own design hand warmers with fingers. I'll use them with WhiteSocks during cold winter nights. I knit single cables to decorate them. The yarn I used is Danish Filcolana's Arwetta yarn (80% superwash merino wool, 20% nylon) (50 g = 210 m).

I love them a lot.

Something new

At the moment I am learning something new in knitting. This has been a long project despite it is not THAT difficult. I just have not had so much time for crafts because of LittlePii and my pedagogical studies which started in May.

I started the project in April. Finished the first part in May before Pii arrived and my studies started. Since that I've been going on quite slowly. These are going to be hand warmers. Yes, I've done them before, but not like this....

Learning something new makes good to your brains and mental health! Remember to learn new things!

WhiteSocks

I designed and knit these pretty white woollen socks for myself. I used Danish Filcolana's Arwetta yarn (80% superwash merino wool, 20% nylon) (50 g = 210 m). This trademark is new to me. Last October when visiting Turku, South Finland, I bought some balls of Arwetta just in case if needed to knit or crochet something for the dress project of the year.

On 2014 I made Dream Blue Sleepy Kit for myself. On 2017 I made it again because I needed new pair of hand warmers and woollen socks for sweet dreams. It seems one set lasts for 3 winters because now I need to make one set again for the next winter.

AAW SingleCable Socks No3

I designed and knit this pair of AWW woollen sock for myself. I need thin but warm sock for my horse riding hobby in arctic weather. For these socks I used only our AAW snag grey yarn (40% our own ethic produced arctic angora wool, 40% FinnSheep wool, 10% arctic dog wool and 10% nylon). I have already used them and they are really really warm.

I started them already in October but after my injury it has taken for weeks to finish the last sock. At first I could knit only few rounds, then max ten per day. But, now they are finally here on my blog! Yeppee! Craft making is such a good rehabilitation also for shoulder injuries. Just make sure your knitting needles and yarn are light enough. Make sure to make just a little bit and go on with small steps. It also keeps your mind out of depression because of the injury and pain.

ForMeMeMe!!!

I have designed and finished long woollen socks for Me&MySelf. Unfortunately the legs on the pics are not Mine.

I used Novita's 7 Veljestä Multiraita yarn (75 % wool, 25% polyamide) (100g = 200m). I have knit these AtSchool during the lectures. I designed single cables to decorate them. The shades of the stripes remind Me about strawberry, lingonberry, raspberry, blueberry and vanilla sauce.

AAW SingleCable Socks No2

I designed another pair of AAW SingleCable Socks. On December 2016 I did the 1st pair. For this pair I used AAW snag grey yarn (40% our own ethic produced arctic angora wool ,40% FinnSheep wool, 10% arctic dog wool and 10% nylon).

This pair of woollen socks is made for the Christmas 2018 for a very special person who came into MyLife in this year at late spring. I work as a teacher but sometimes a teacher needs a teacher too.

OOW SingleCable Socks

MyHouse is such a sock factory. Knitting socks for our love ones is such a traditional way of Finns to show their love & care.

This time I used our special OOW yarn (25% of arctic dog wool and 75% Finnsheep wool). It is very ethic and environmental friendly. It neither has any chemicals or dyeing so it is very gentle for your skin.

To decorate these socks I used SingleCables. It is a very simple and easy way to create some effect in one shade yarn. It is my own design.
