BabyBlanketNo6

From my treasure box of yarns I found Sirdar's baby snowball yarn (100% polyester) (50g = 25m). I had two balls of green and one blue. I bought them to crochet something PrettyBaby but it turn out not so pretty at all. Now I bought Novita's Balladi (100% wool) (100g = 107m) to be knit with Sirdar's baby snowball yarn.

It all turn out much better looking BabyBlanketNo6. Sirdar's yarn is pure polyester so Novita's 100% wool yarn creates more warmth with pretty baby snowballs.

I knit the central part and decorated the edges by crocheting.
I designed the blanket while making it.

Of course TheCat wanted to pose with it... or sleep with it...

Working on with loom

Do you remember how I cut off DogWoolShawl from my loom by the last Christmas? Since that MyLoom have been standing abandoned in MyLibrary.

Now I finally had time to create the new knots and get on it!

I was so happy! This is -again- my own design.

This is how I change the shade. I just make sure old and new shade run for a while (at least 10cm) together; one a bit further than the other so the ending points fade away easier.

Then I cut off the loose ends...

...and then it looks more tidy. The base shade is natural white & our own dog wool yarn (25% arctic dog wool and 75% Finnsheep wool). Brown and yellow shades are also our own dog wool yarn which we dyed years ago at home with cones and tansies.

It is lovely listen to the radio and weave in MyLibrary now when the spring sun is shining and flooding everywhere to reach even the darkest corners of the house.

The Snow Castle of Kemi

In MyCity they build huge snow castle every year. And each year it is different. If you VisitKemi on winter season check out if TheSnowCastle is open for you. Here's some pics for you from TheSnowCastle year 2017 which is Finland 100 celebration year.

Season is changing

Good morning to everybody. How are we all today? Ready for the spring that has just started? Or autumn if you happen to live in Australia (cool greetings to there DearJ 💙)... Sometimes people say there is no spring in Finland. But there do is. How is that possible if the snow is there all the time? I show you.

Above is a pic taken on the winter time in February. The sea is frozen but the sun can be seen. It is just setting here. The light is blue and it is freezing cold with a promise of warmth.

Usually you don't see this kind of pic about the snowy arctic world. It is after a storm. Storm is needed to start the process; to change the winds, the world and season.

This is what you usually see on winter pics. But can you see the trenches from small spruce to right. They are old (from 40's) but still there; covered by the snow now.

Look at the pic carefully, for sure you can notice them. Snow can hide many things.

Do you see it better now? On the left?

TheBay! See, the light is gone, blue or white.

The Spring has turned in! The Sea is still frozen but the air has changed. It makes hares, squirrels and birds chase each others  for some weird reason called

S ❤ P ❤ R ❤ I ❤ N ❤ G.

Still the wind may feel hard at open places like on the sea ice.

But in the forest the wind dies if it is not storm. Snow is still hiding something (Stones, I can tell you, from the ice age.)

The light is sometimes very hard and hurts your eyes. The snow doubles its amount so everyone should protect their eyes!

The arctic animals have their special ways to cope with the snow. One of them is to spread the toes. That makes the snow carry her better. She does it by instinct.

But if you are not sure is the nature showing you the spring or not, this is the certain mark about it. The mail brings the 1st mail order catalog of flowers! I had forgot I plant a new flower bed last August! I got very curious about it now but can not help the case at all; there's still 1 meter of snow over it!

CardiganUpdate

It's been a long way to knit all the way from hem to up; including both big sleeves. But here we go now and I am happy.

It all is just in my head so it is very interesting to see how my own design turns out. So far I have not needed to knit it more than once.

Very interesting indeed!
(In this pic the shade is more close to the real than on pics above.)

WoollyTime

TheTime has arrived again. 6,5 kg of our own ethic produced angora wool is waiting to be sent to the mill. Yes, our angora rabbits have produced that much in a year.

Well, it was a bit cold moment in my snowy garden where I spread the wool on tarpaulin over the snow to sort it out and clean it from the trash when arctic wind was blowing from RussiaDirection all the way from Siberia. Bhrrr... But the wool was warm so my hands were not too frozen.

Last June we finally got our first AAW out of the mill. The angora wool was mixed with natural white FinnSheep RawWool. This time we mix it with natural black and grey (above) FinnSheep RawWool and ArcticDogWool.

It is going to be very interesting spring again to be patient and to wait how it all will turn out and how does it all look when the mill has done its job! Most of the FinnSheep RawWool we added was natural black (above; with blink of grey) but ArcticDogWool we use is pure white! Before we have made AAW and OOW but this is the 1st time to mix all these three elements together: DogWool, AngoraWool and FinnSheepWool.
