TattingProject

In September I started a new tatting project. I have not had much time for doing only it. But it is progressing a knot by knot.

Tatting is a perfect carry on craft project for the moments you need to sit and wait. My winter holiday included waiting in hospital's corridor because I was just a chauffeur so it was a perfect moment for tatting away. This is how the project looks now.

NewBegin

I've been tatting before but there is no pics of any projects. I did it around embroidered table runners, baptizing dresses for babies etc. They've all sold or given away long time ago. I used tatting for hand made value items I sold at street markets to earn living when studying at art school and children were small. Tatted laces were easy, low cost and excellent way to rise up the value of special products. I love tatting and this is my first ever tatting made of variegated thread. It is Janette Baker's design from her Learn to Tat book. She just uses white thread. It is going to be a table cloth.

Learn to Tat

Learn to Tat (Finnish: Käpypitsi) is Janette Baker's excellent book to the secrets of tatting. It is complete guide for everyone who wants to learn this way of making beautiful lace. It includes all you need to know to get started. Instructions and pictures are good. It is originally published on 2008 so you might get it at second hand if someone has decided to give away her copy.

The book consists of 9 lessons and 9 designs to learn and use your new skill. It includes basic information and history too. Definitely a must buy if you ever face it.

I bought this book already on 2011 when I also blogged about it without a picture. Unfortunately the website of the issue doesn't exist anymore but there is DVD included in some English versions of the book.
