Cinema

Do we have it? Yes we have it! No, we don't have it. Yes, yes, it is there. No it is not. Yes it is. What it is? It is the Cinema... so called MovieTheatre... The internet proves Kemi has it. We have had it for ages. During the times the ownership has changed several times but not the address; Valtakatu 12. But when you arrive there as non Finnish speaking tourist you get confused. For sure it is not there. The internet gave you false information. But actually it didn't.

When you arrive to the street Valtakatu around number 12 where is big (well, in our opinion) red brick building you can find this sign and the advert of the movies that's on at the moment. But no, there is no door. Just an advert on the wall. But please go left. Not far...

...and you will find this door. See, there is the number 12. It is our Cinema. Oh, you were there already and nothing was in? Well, go again. When you open the door you see a corridor which is blocked by a rope. But just step in and right before the rope there is a steep turn to another corridor that goes left. Go there and that's where you can find our Cinema. There is no other sign about it. Be brave and explore a bit.

If you are visiting MyCityKemi just have fun and go to see a movie. The Cinema is very cosy and small. Sometimes you can enjoy about a private show if no one else is not popping in.

As usual I don't get any benefit for telling you this. I just like to go there especially then when it is silent and all the premieres are gone. The tickets are under 15€ and if you are lucky you can have it all for you; the whole theatre. You can not get that in London or Berlin very easily.

Santa'sSecretMittens

Santa'sSecretSocks got mittens too. All my own design.

I really really L O V E them. I really needed to knit them to look different.

For your special ones it is always wonderful to give HappyHomeMadeGifts.

I am going to buy leather gloves under them to make the mittens to be wind proof and much warmer. I really would like to find white leather gloves. That perhaps will be my challenge for this Xmas.

Knitting socks again

Do you remember BlanketNo3? One ball was left over from it. I have been thinking what to do with it. I had several options and always changed my mind. Now I took that Cewec's Silver Soft yarn (100% acryl, 100g = 330 meters) and decided instead of HomeDecorationStuff Young Lady will get ClothDecorationStuff of it by the next Christmas.

Cewec's Silver Soft itself is useless as woollen socks. But I figured out I could knit parts of accessories by using Silver Soft. The yarn is useless in socks because it doesn't include wool at all and won't stand hard use. So I decided to mix it with apple green Novita 7 veljestä yarn (75% wool, 25% polyamide, 150g = 300meters). My own desing with delicius shades.

NoReturn

It has happen. There is no return anymore.

The 1st Autumn Storm was here.

The 3rd Storm will bring the winter in.

If you want to escape; do it now. You still have time left but there is no return anymore. Only after 10 months it will be tolerable warm again... Escape; if you are not used to the cold...

...if you have not been prepared for the long winter time. (Here TheCat & Him are making HerbalTea for the Winter.)

At the end of August I sheared all the angora wool for the last time before the Winter. I cut it to be extremelty short (2mm). It needs to be short because of the skin which needs to get a bit air in to prevent skin problems. During the cold season I must leave several centimeters for their own warmth; that's why I cut it very short on warm season. (On these pics they have grew it already back a bit.)

Despite it is not more than +14C on the day time and +4C on the night time they enjoy their ShortSummerHairStyle. They don't use their WinterNest yet (except when it was roaring 1st Autumn Storm). On the chilly mornings I find them cooling down by the doorway where's only a net structure as a door. Yep, despite they have now the short wool. Angora wool is very warm and it seems to work perfect by the Arctic Circle.

My ContinentalGiant Sandy is a big girl already. No, she is not paralyzed, she is just doing her DailyStretchingExercises.

All the rabbits love the moment when I share a bit of MyGarden apples with them.

MyWinterProject is going on little by little. Now I have connected the sleeves to the trunk. And spun more yarn for it...

RastaTubeScarf

When YoungLady was LittleLady she wanted to buy Novita Rasta yarn (85% acryl, 9%polyamide, 6% polyester) (100g = 19m). She wished me to knit woollen socks of it to her. What a fluffy idea but NO WAY! So we agreed she can buy that yarn and later on she'll figure out what else I could knit of it for Her. That later never happened. She still wanted her fluffy woollen socks. This yarn just is useless for woollen socks. No matter how hard I try to explane... So, it was time to call TaijaDesingStudio... to do my own design.

I decided to make a scarf of it because I had only two 100g balls of it and the rest was sold out.

But 200g was just enough!

Next Christmas we'll see (and hear) Her opinion about it. :)

WinterNest

As we all know it is AutumnTime. At my BunnyHouse it means it was time to build WinterNest. This is MultiFunctional because TheWeather can be that too. So, not for very cold times the wood nest is enough. When it gets colder we start to cover it by straw pellets, hay bales and construction insulation sheets. So far they think it is too hot place to nest.

But despite they think it is far too hot for this weather (+10C) they had a big fuss about it.

At the moment best in their WinterNest is the hay bale that appeared onto the roof of it. They are rabbits and love to jump around, up and down. And yep, they know what is in the pails.

SockChallenge

In Kemi has started a huge SockChallenge! The aim is to knit woollen socks for each school kid (grades 1-9) for the comming Xmas. It means about 2000 pairs of socks. You can participate if you want; by knitting or donating the yarn. No money is accepted; just finished socks and yarn.

The socks should be just normal basic woollen socks; either striped or one coloured. It doesn't matter which yarn you use as long as it includes wool and is strong enough for socks. The size range is huge because the school kids are aged from 7 to 15 years. They are boys and girls; so the socks can be tiny or huge. If you know the size you knit mark it to the socks. If you don't it doesn't matter; someone will sort it out later. You can also mention your name with the socks and Merry Christmas wishes. Or just wish Mery Christmas.

If you want to donate just yarn bring it to the local delicacy shop Punnitse & Säästä (Keskuspuistokatu 1, 94100 Kemi). It is in the building with pharmacy and food shop S-market.

If you want to donate finished socks you can bring them to Punnitse & Säästä or local yarn shop Pieni lankapuoti (Keskuspuistokatu 10, 94100 Kemi).

The SockChallenge has its own Facebook Group Kemin sukkahaaste.

CelticBookMark

I stitched this CelticBookMark designed by Sheila Hudson from CrossStitcher magazine (May 2004, page 32). I used different shades than described and PerforatedPaper instead of Aida bands.

With these Celtic Designs you can easily play with the shades too. Easy and low cost gift which every reader love.

BabouskaSocks

Now I finished the woollen socks I just started.

I used Novita's beige shade Nalle yarn (100g = 260m) (75% wool, 25% polyamide) for the foot part. This yarn was left over from the project BlanketNo2. The fluffy yarn is Sirdar's Babouska (52% wool, 39% acrylic, 9% nylon) (50g=115m) and left over from the project BlanketNo4.

Special gift for my mother-in-law on her comming birthday.
My own design.

Exciting moments

Do you remember BlanketNo4?

I used Sirdar's Babouska yarn (52% wool, 39% acrylic, 9% nylon) (50g=115m) for it. Something was left over too. Now I picked up these shades of it; white, beige and grey and made again one more my own design.

I had very exciting moments in knitting. Would it all be enough?

I knit them at the same time to avoid disaster.

And yes, it was enough! This is what was left over! Not much at all. These are going to be woollen socks. Because Babouska's twist is not strong enough I will use another yarn for the foot part of the socks. Later on you'll see the result. :)

Still Green!

Four Angora girls and one Continental giant girl. The size from 2,9kg to 5,3kg. And still Sandy thinks she is the smallest and Aunt Lulu is the biggest. Sandy really has no doubt about it whom she should obey; Aunt Lulu on the right with her 2,9kg weight. I think we all should have someone like Aunt Lulu. You can be sure she pampers you, cuddles you, loves you and really gives you a hard time if you have been naughty.

Despite of the size difference the biggest is the first who moves if told so!

Still having green! So so good!

I give them fresh green delights twice in a day from MyGarden. They have free access to hay but that is not so good now when green is available.

I feel almost sad the summer is behind and with the autumn the green will fade away. I love snow but they love green! And yellow...

Oh, they all have such cute mouths and noses!

There's something else too that is very delicious...
