Framing No2 -tutorial

When I framed the 1st bird canvas  I promised to show you how exactly I did it. There is Framing No1 -tutorial for this same style of framing which you make traditionally by using just thread. Here I use a bit modern method.

You start it as normal by placing the canvas, frame and cardboard together.

After making it sure it all is on the right place like you want; turn up the work.

Use SilverTape to fasten the canvas on the cardboard. Remember to pull & tighten at every point. If you ask help for this, working with SilverTape is much easier. Start with the longer edges...

... and go through each corner / edge.

At the end secure & hide it all by SilverTape.

If you have background cardboard; place it at the end. Now you are finished.

Bird No1

I have finished the 1st bird of TheBirdsCollection. I do have Framing tutorial No1 for you. It is how you usually do these things. But this time it turn out a bit disaster so I used another method. I was in the middle of the trouble so I forgot to take pics for you.

For the next bird's framing I will make proper pics for you to complete this alternative framing if you need a bit harder touch on it to get it done.

The result is "ok". The problem I faced was that the canvas was so hard that it didn't want to get fold to A N Y direction. And unfortunately I noticed immediately when started that the frame was a bit too big for the stitching!

SecretStitching

Since last weekend -for a week now- I have had a secret stitching project. MrW asked me to do something very extremely special for DearE for Her graduation day. It is His gift,  I just promised to do it for Him because He doesn't stitch despite we are related.

I don't own the copyrights for the project so it definitely is not my design despite I turned it all out into cross stitch project. So far I have worked with it for 10-12 hours and only now it is ready to be started with cross stitches. It has been pretty demanding project despite it includes converting a picture to cross stitch chart by using computer program which is designed for doing also that. It has taken so much time because it is up to graphic design & figures and I want to remain all that and salute the original designer & original idea. So it has demanded all my best and a bit more. Usually I convert my own pics in an hour or two. I know what I designed so it is easy. Now I am after  another designers vision, opinion and personal touch so it demands a bit more.

The result is the project finished size is 45 x 45 cm. It includes 23 391 stitches. I will use 14ct Aida (white) and I already went to MyFramer and she was so kind that she booked me in already despite no single cross stitch is done yet. I went to her this early because I want it to be framed in time. I have 4½ weeks of time to finish this project to get it in time to framer.

Framing No1 -tutorial

One of the cheapest and easiest way to frame your cross stitch project is to use this kind of frame and do it by yourself at home.

The most difficult thing in this is to get it right in the middle and straight.

Cut the extra fabric off.

 

Neaten the edges by zigzag or overlock.

Tack the edge and tighten it gently.

Secure the fabric and don't forget the knot at the end.

WOW! It is finished!
