EasyPenCase -tutorial

This time I wanted to stitch something small designed by someone else. So I picked up my magazines and ended up to this.

I chose Fiona Crouch design from Cross Stitcher issue 273 (December 2013) on page 56.

I used my left over threads of blue (DMC 775, 3325 and 312) and pink (DMC 818). I stitched it on left over Aida 14CT fabric.

DMC 312 was for the back stitches. I like them. For many times they crate the final touch.

But Fiona Crouch's design was not all I needed. I wanted to personalize the stitching. So here we needed some Taija design. This time I was old fashioned and used some pen and paper.

Ta-dah! Personalized Tag!

When I was re-upholstering the massage table some Faux Leather (artificial leather) was left over. I of course kept it all. Now I used some bits of it to make a PenCase. I cut a hole into one piece by a carpet knife. First I draw exact size of square I needed on the back side of the leather. Then I used ruler when cutting the square to keep exact straight lines. Then I placed Aida behind the leather and used sewing machine to fasten these two fabrics together.

Then I re-formed the edges of the tag by special scissors. Try out the scissors at first on left over fabric before starting the cutting. Just in case it dosn't cut it at all at the end.

For the PenCase I needed 23 x 31 cm size piece of Faux Leather. I fasteded the tag on the place I wanted.

Then I fastened the upper edge of the zipper. Zipper size is 20cm.

Then I fastened the lower edge of the zipper and sew the side edges of the PenCase.

But no, it was not finished yet. The zipper needed a pull. I made it from beads. And the side edges needed some trimming too.

The PenCase is my own design like the personalized stitching but the heart figure stitching if designed by Fiona Crouch.

This is very easy way to make a PenCase. The tutorial works fine with real leather, faux leather, plastic fabrics and felt. Ready to make easy and low cost Christmas gifts?

FinlandFlag KeyRing

FinlandWoollenSocks gift includes something else too. There are some sweets and my own design FinlandFlagKeyRing. I stitched it on 14ct Perforated Paper with 3 skeins. The chart is easy to copy from this picture. Just count it easily if you want to stitch Flag of Finland.

Re-upholstering Massage Table -tutorial

Mery Christmas to Me! It supposed to be my Christmas gift but destiny made it to happen earlier so I had to go on the road again.

Of course it was old and used...

...little bit damaged here and there.

The head part was hard and made your face aching in the test massage session.

But the most important parts were in excellent fit. Nothing a proper wash could cure. All electric with all delicates. Just perfect for a tiny dwarf like me; easy to lift up and down.

For re-upholstering I needed some masculine power.

He just placed the new fabric on.

You need to pay a bit attention on re-upholstering. Start from the middle of each edge, fasten few staples to each of them and them few more again. Go like this little by little from each edge to the corners' direction. 2 to each edge before adding 2 more to each again etc. Do the corners last. In that way you can easily tighten the fabric proper and tidy.

One 90 degree corner. Pretty nice.

Another corner. Not bad either.

Here it is without the head part.

Facial part caused some troubles because we re-formed it. It was hard so it needed more softening. And it was too big and pressed your shoulders so we needed to make it smaller. But then we were at the point it needed also different size fabric than the original one. It was difficult to make the pattern for it because it was thicker but smaller. On the 3rd try-out it was "acceptable" and He could fasten it. The same rules work here. Little by little; from the middle to the corners, working with all the edges at the same time...

The head part's corners are not so pretty but that is just fine because the most important part (the facial hole) feels perfect now when you lay on it and enjoy about the massage.

By buying old massage table and re-upholstering it I saved over 1000€.

It all was worth of it...

...despite it was a bit hard to listen that horrible masculine machine working on!

OOW LegWarmers No1

Do you remember OurOwnWool?

I was on the road again (some day later you'll see why) and needed CarryOnProject to spend my hours in the car. You know it is a long way from here to everywhere.

So I decided to knit something for a dear friend.

Something she needs during the LongColdWinter. For sure she can keep her legs warm with OurOwnWool which has 25% of arctic dog wool and 75% Finnsheep wool. My own design especially for her.

YoungLady was posing for the pics. She has nothing but long legs like foals. <3

ThistleBookMark

After a long time I have been stitching. Do you remember my own design ThistleDesign? There's also FreeChart available for it.

I made a book mark of it; actually one bit of it...

I used PerforatedPaper and 3 skeins of thread.

This is how it turn out.

ComputerDoctor

Another pair of long woollen socks has been finsihed. They are made of Novita 7 veljestä yarn (75% wool, 25% polyamide) (150g = 300m). My own design for my computer doctor. Lately I have had huge problems with all kind of machines. My smart phone, my laptop... Nina has been helping me out so it all feels so much easier now. She also gave me official permit to delete my broken phone by hammer to make sure none will have access to all my open data which was left on before the accident happened. I am really lucky I don't keep anything important stored in only one place. Only phone numbers were lost. I thought they were on my sim-card but no they were not. Thanks to internet and other machines I can collect them all again. But lesson of past weeks is: NEVER STORE anything precious only in your phone... or computer. It might be it just stops working before you have time to do the back up files... And it might be nothing can be rescued. They don't always warn you that they plan to sing off themselves...

GrowingWool

Despite of OctoberFrost my rabbits still love to go outside. Despite I allow them to do so in their covered outdoor fence the white angora rabbits are still white. I have groomed them for the last time at the end of August when I sheared their wool! After that no brushing at all. This week I am going to cut some wool around their faces and paws and YoungLady will brush their wool in the same operation.

They are very tidy animals. Only their noses prove they are allowed to dig and jump around. Only dirt spots they get are always around their noses.

Of course they take many naps during the day but they also have WildChaseSessions.

My ContinentalGiant rabbit Sandy has started to grow wool too. It is very soft and fluffy; short (1-2cm) but it is there. Yep, it is no wonder. Every animal grow wool here. Even the finest horses.

This wool rises up her hair a bit to stand straight up. Can you notice it. You can not see the wool, but the hair looks different than before when it was smooth.

In her neck the wool can be seen a bit better.

But Sandy is a rabbit to hear all your worries. She really can hear it all. Despite her ears have started to grow wool too. I must confess I was a bit worried about her ears mixed with MyArcticWinter. I do know we have hares and they all have long ears but still... No worries now, she grows wool all over. Perhaps AuntLulu has adviced her to do so. AuntLulu has also helped Sandy to make her nest and NOT to wee around there. It was a hard lesson but now Sandy knows if you have a pretty house you are allowed to wee only in one corner of it IF YOU REALLY NEED TO WEE THERE. But AuntLulu knows it all best so I can noy blame on her. There would be a disaster without AuntLulu.
