BabyBlanket No9

 

I designed and crocheted BabyBlanket No9. it is made for cuddle and comfort. I have crocheted all the stars of the sky into it. The design itself is extremely easy and anyone who knows the beginner level of crocheting can for sure complete this. It reminds a lot Blanket No1. I just used pastel-lilac 100% cotton yarn (Mandarin Classic yarn by SandnesGarn) (50g = 110m) for the base and dark lilac teetee gaala yarn to create the starlight sky effect with sequins (85% cotton, 12% polyester, 3% sequins) (50g = 155m).

SequinLegWarmers

I designed and knit two pair of blinky leg warmers. They are for two little sisters who will receive them on Yule2021.

I used teetee gaala yarn. It is quite funny and interesting yarn. It is made of 85% cotton, 12% polyester, 3% sequins (50g = 155m).

You can have it in many shades and get inspired.

Cable Hand Warmers of alpaca

This view waits for me every morning when I wake up. I just love to watch it from my bed for a while.

We are around a very special day so I baked a small cake to celebrate it. It is gluten free orange cake. My own recipe. Yummy!

And I bought some chocolates too...

TaijaS Travel Agency has been working hard to solve out many and more things...

But still I have had few moments for a special gift which time is not yet at all. It is my own design; as usual. Customised to someone special.

I used Novita's 7 veljestä yarn to knit the Single Cables. It has 75% wool and 25% polyamide (150g = 300m). That fluffy light beige yarn is teetee's cacao yarn. It has 89% alpaca and 11% polyamide (100g = 5000m!!!).

These are for a very special person who has rheumatism. The cables form thick and supportive wrist part. The alpaca yarn is light but even warmer than sheep wool. It warms up the small joint areas of hands and knuckles. The left hand warmer has crocheted decoration flower. It is only in the left hand because it makes easier in the darkness of the night to separate the left from the right and wear them in the right way.

By the edge

I finally reached the red stripe at the other edge! 

All the way from the left edge to the right one. I still am not there; at the end of the edge. But I feel like a winner already. Three more loop stitch rows with beige (notice: by now I have opened the loop stitches) and then three more rows with blue loop yarn. THEN I can concentrate on framing edges and finishing!

The next blanket project -BlanketNo3- will be done by this yarn. It is 50g ball...

...and I have 22 of them... in 6 shades...

(It was a really good bargain; just 1€ per ball!!!)

Yes, I already know what I want but have no idea -yet- how...

Furry loops

Past days I have been working so hard with my BlanketNo2.

It is progressing well, I am comming to the other edge where I meet again the FurryForestFeeling with green shades.

There are shades of spring, summer, autumn and even winter green...

...shades of forest paths and gray with all the dreams from granite to goat...

All the loops form out such soft surface that calls you to wrap in when it is getting freezing cold arctic night.

The front side is striped with loops.

The back side reminds simple basic crochet surface. But, I tell you secret of warmth; when it is really really cold I will wrap in outside in. Yes, outside in. When the loops come between you and the outer world they store the warmest feeling ever; because they create air pockets which keep the cold outside.

Yes, I am almost there. It still needs 10 hours of work to get to the other edge. But when I'll finally be there I can start to crochet the outer edging which will frame the blanket.

Dangerous loops

The Saimaa ringed seal is endangered mammal. Its only enemy is human being. How dangerous we are? Still many are afraid of birds, butterflies, lizards, sharks, kittens... and doesn't mind about walking through the crowds. (I have stitched it also on a CreditCardHolder.) (My own design <3 )

Loops are cute, warm but dangerous in the wrong place. In my BlnaketNo2 they are there where they supposed to be -warming up my freezing winter nights. I still have plenty of time to finish it.

I so love my favourite yarn shop. On the other day when I popped in the lovely lady had saved me one more teetee stella ball for my own designed blanket! She had been cleaning the store and found one more. I so love that service.

Loops in blanket

I went through one of my bookcases and drove out all the dust. This hides the craft and gardening treasures. Knitting and crocheting books in Finnish. Stitching and sewing books mainly in English. So it all is balanced up.

My woolly secret is reaching to the sun. All sowing succeed!

It was time to add more colour to my BlanketNo2.

So far BlanketNo2 looks like this. 3D furry effect with many shades which remind me of Norther Lights, Aurora Borealis or Polar Lighs -what ever you desire to call them.

A little bit of red. Not much, but a taste anyway. :)

BlanketNo2 started

After far too many weeks I bought a craft magazine just for me. The chocolate I didn't need to buy, I just went to the bag that hide my Easter left over chocolate. Yummy! We all had fun on sofa.

 I started BlanketNo2. Also this is my own design. I guess I'll be doing it still by the next Xmas. So much of slow work and patience it seems to ask.

This is how the BlanketNo2 looks from the front side. As you can see I use two different kind of yarns. The beige is Novita's Nalle ( 75% wool, 25% polyamide). That funny furry thing is stella by teetee (60% acryl, 20% wool, 15% polyester). One ball of stella yarn weights 100g but means just 30 meters of yarn. One ball of Nalle weights 150g but has even 390 meters in it.

I am going to crochet with stella one row and five rows with that beige between each furry row.

So far it seems you could use it in both sides!

Time to face the fear

Now I have knit the scarf which actually is more like a shawl. That's why I can't escape anymore. So I took my bike for 20km tour to nearest yarn shop. I wish I had spent more time on bike tour and in the little yarn shop but here I am. I prepaired the meat and it's in the oven now. I can't think what else to do so I must open my shopping back and peek inside. And what do I find in there? I find 50g ball of Finnish teetee's  elegant yarn (70% worsted wool and 30% Tussah silk, included jojoba oil, aloe vera and vitamin E, black colour). From it I should be able to crochet the edges of the shawl. Oops!
