Gluten Free GarlicLovesCheese TeaBread

Starting from January 2016 The Social Insurance Institution of Finland (KELA) has decided to terminate dietary grant for persons with coeliac disorder and no longer new awards of the dietary grant will be made. They do it to because of savings and ensure equal treatment of persons with different illnesses or injuries. They forget diet is only treatment for coeliac disease otherwise other diseases are medicated too. The decision discriminates instead of promoting equality; especially when you find out that gluten free products cost at least 10 times more compared to normal products (here we are talking about for example flours and breads).

It is not a secret I have coeliac disorder. I am not worried about me. I have a job. I can cope and follow my extremely strict diet without dietary grant. But I do know some people will have difficulties to do so and there are other countries where no such a thing than dietary grant was never available. To support those people who will have difficulties to follow their diet I start to publish my own gluten free recipes here on my blog. Baking makes it all always cheaper. I already published Gluten Free Potato Cakes just for fun last July.

Here comes GarlicLovesCheese TeaBread

Just add and mix in the following order

5dl warm water
11g dry yeast
1dl cottage cheese
1dl sour cream
1-3 crushed garlic clove
½ teaspoon salt
6dl white gluten free flour mix (I use Semper FinMix)

Grated cheese on top
Oil to grease the muffin tray holes

Fry in 200 Celsius degrees oven for approx 16min

The dough is loose and you need to spoon it into the muffin tray. Share the dough even with all 24 holes.

Just fill half of the holes and cover dough by cheese.

Oh what a good breakfast or tea time moment you can have!

ForestTherapy

Whilst snow is melting elsewhere; it stays in MyWorld.

It is natural part around here; below the Arctic Circle. If it is not around for 4-6 months; there will be a huge fuss about it. Unfortunately Climate Change has made our winters milder.

There are many things everyone can do to protect the nature and ease the Climate Change. Each option is not possible everywhere but most of the options are free or cheaper than the ones which load weight on nature. For example reducing shopping costs nothing. The solution is not in recycling -which itself is of course excellent way and needed to be done- but the truth is to reduce getting new stuff you at the end do not need. Producing new items is the one that pollutes most.

But still we have the Winter. I love Winter Frorest. It is full of white, silent, hidden, full of secrets and life.

She loves forest too. She knows it is full of adventures. She has learnt snow is only a blanket that hides entertaining things. I can tell Vole Hunting is one of her favorites.

After the snowfall it is easy to find paths no human was there before you. Nuka leaves behind pretty big paw prints compared to my hand print.

Despite it all looks white it is not. :)

Babouska LegWarmers

For BlanketNo4 I used Sirdar's Babouska yarn (52% wool, 39% acrylic, 9% nylon) (50g=115m). From the left over yarn I already knit BabouskaSocks. And now I knit LegWarmers and used rest of the yarn. I do have liked this Babouska yarn. It is so warm, soft and fluffy.

To make them look even more fluffy I gently brushed LegWarmers by brand new nail brush. I do know they sell mohair brushes but they are so expensive in MyWorld. So just to be curious I decided to try out normal nail brush; bought only for my craft use of course. I can tell it worked out very well.

No, these are not mine despite they fit well with MyBlanket. They are for DearR. who definitely is a red person and sparkles in all the colors. This is part of the craft challenge I am in. I am happy to tell first part Done&Delivered in the challenge.

TubeScarfNo3

I made one more tube scarf. It is my own design. I used the same idea as I did in TubeScarfNo1 and BlanketNo1.

Very easy design and simple to make by anyone who knows the basics of crocheting.

I have here the idea of 30 stitches...

...which exactly means you need to start 1st row with 30 + 1 chain stitches. This 1 extra is for turn up.

Fasten the 1st single stitch to the 4th chain stitch from the hook. Then stitch 3 chain stitches and 1 single stitch fastened to every 3rd chain stitch of the 1st row. It begins to form out the web now.

It goes on after the second row with the idea 3 chain stitches and 1 single stitch to fasten it all to next loop. Except at turn ups you need 4 chain stitches.

Very beautiful shade of old and broken rose. Excellent way to wish happy birthday to someone special with box of chocolate.

I used Novita Rose (70% acryl & 30% wool, 50g = 190m) yarn. Soft & warm. Thin but fluffy.

Winter Forest In Frost

I simply   L O V E   winter forest. I love all those little paths going here and there.

One reason to love Winter Forest is that ants are sleeping!!!! Each of them!

There is no single mosquito!!!!

It all seems to be silent; but you can hear and see many other animals that are bigger than bugs.

These red cross signs show the allowed routes for snowmobiles. If you walk along them remember to watch out vehicles.

But there are also signs for snowmobile drivers to watch out skiers.

This is how my hairstyle looks after the FrostWalk.

It forms out because of the breathing.
Good sign to see you are still alive! :)

PS. When taking these pics the temperature was -26 Celsius degrees.

MadMoose -tutorial (free chart)

Do you remember how I stitched MadMoose bookmark on April 2012? I have promised to publish more my own design on my blog just for you and your own use on year 2016. Remember to respect the copy rights while having fun in stitching! Today has became time to release MadMoose run free into your heart! Excellent gift for anyone who loves nature and Scandinavia with good sense of humor!

You need two pieces of fabric which you sew together on both edges of the bookmark; left and right. Before doing anything else, even stitching, neaten the edges to avoid fraying!

Be very careful....

...and sew very close to the border.

To create the final touch with fringe edge; tear off some yarn from the bottom and top of the bookmark. Neaten the fringe edge with scissors.

And here it is!!!!
My own design

8xXmas

Now I have finished 8 tiny figures for mystery project! It is January but still Feeling Xmas!

I used Christmas Tags free gift from CrossStitcher magazine issue 273 year 2013. It is designed by Fiona Crouch. I didn't make tags of the figures but I personalized a bit by stitching small lines below and above the pictures. Later on you'll see what this mystery project is all about.

Where did all the water go?

It is a bit ridiculous that today forecast includes frost warning. Despite of the climate change it is obvious we have frost here in Kemi in January. Wind chill chart shows the impacts of the wind to the temperature.

How about some huge ice cubes to your cold drink if you are somewhere hot at this moment? Now you know from where they come from! :)

I walked with my dog to see the sea. I must confess despite the sea is very close, this was the first time I took her there after it got frozen. She has never before seen frozen sea.

She was very confused and seemed to wonder where all the water went. She peek into every hole she found to see was it all in there. She wasted huge amount of energy digging the snow away and seeking the water. She must heard free water movements under the ice cover or then she just loves the water and was desperate when seeing it was not there anymore.

Did you know that Port of Kemi is accessible all year around despite the sea is frozen?

FluffyWeather

It has been cold. At the moment it is -24 Celsius Degrees, yesterday it was -27 and MyAngoras just didn't mind about it. They were a bit messy because some hay had attached to the frost of the wool. I let them be so because the wool itself is in excellent fit. I check out the wool by slipping my finger through it to see how it is "inside" there. When it is fluffy and not mixed up it warms up even better than sheep wool. But because the tops of the hair has some frost around their face (because of the breathing) I can not touch them with my hands. My hands would melt the frost which would mean I would wet the rabbits. The frost goes away with the weather. I just try to pick up trashes without touching the frost. When it will be "warmer" I will check out each rabbit to see do they need a hair dresser before next ArcticFrostBreath.

They were given MyChristmasTree. A bit green on winter season when nothing green except conifer grows here; BelowTheArcticCircle.

This is the corner of their winter nest roof. They all fit in, are harmonious together, but still they like to jump around to see what happens. They don't mind about cold; more they seem to mind gloomy weather despite BunnyHouse is water & wind proof. Perhaps it is that spirit that covers them when it it dark, rainy and stormy. If it is shiny bright frost day they want to spend more time out. Otherwise they just rather sleep over it.

Feeling Xmas

More stitching despite it is -27 Celsius Degrees and I've been melting frozen water pipes in the house. No problem! If you can stitch; you can do anything!

Just tiny stitching...

...which -later on- will form out a bigger set...

Christmas Tags kit was a free gift with
