MoreSomeWarm

I designed and knit more some warm. I did it before for me&myself and for her. This pair is for my mother-in-law but let's not tell it to her. I don't watch much TV but when I do I knit. Is it the same with you?

Again, I used AAW (50% our own ethic produced arctic angora wool, 40% ethic produced FinnSheep wool, 10% nylon) (100g = 238m) for the leg parts and Novita 7 veljestä Lapintaika yarn (75% wool, 24% polyamidi, 1% polyester) (100g = 200m) for the decoration and foot parts. I have already started to knit a new pair, it will be for him.

Creativity

Since my last blog post TimeToGrow these weeks have been full of farewells. Most of all in my old job I will miss all my students (and our beloved secretary who will get retired soon and who has been there for me all these years to support both me and the students). And I know that in my new job I will love most of all my coming students despite I have not met them yet; and my team of course.

(Picture above: a detail from my classroom at the new work which is not at all my classroom, I take it as OUR classroom with OUR things, where is room and space for all of us who work, teach, study or visit there.)

At my new work I have not been so much up to crafts yet but creativity in the form we usually don't recon to be creativeness. Usually we connect creativity only to art and crafts. But actually it is up to creating something new. And I truly am creating something new. But creation process is like gardening. You need to look around, see what you have, not to destroy all the weeds because they really can be superfood. You need to find the things you should better to preserve and find the places where seeding needs to happen. Most of all, the work of creator is like the work of gardener. You need to seed, plant, enable and provide the growth so that some day it is time to harvest and joy.

At this very moment at my new work my job its to make sure the teachers in my team have the best possible changes to teach by the resource we were given. It is a lot up to money, like it always is in this world. But for our sake it is also a bit up to little pieces of free things too. I can't change the funding we have but I am going to do my best to gather those free jewelry to share with them to create cozy and comfort place to work so that we all can do our best in teaching.

TimeToGrow

On Valentine's Day 2023 I received a gift from a friend. She had plant some Violet Queen potatoes which were quite popular trial in Finland on summer 2022. On Valentine's Day she shared some of them with me. My arctic garden is far too cold for them and it was not very succeed trial on my property on summer 2022. But my friend solved out the problem by studying a bit about the subject and tried to create enough time and warmth for them to grow. A week ago she brought me some more. I am very happy!

They are like a bucket of flowers to congratulate me for the new job! At my old work I will close  the spring term as planned but have already started at new work with tiny steps. I will start full time on the begin of May 2023. In the future I will be working only at Tornion kansalaisopisto. I will work as an art and craft coordinating teacher.

I will return full time back to my 1st profession. I have enjoyed at my old work and love the students. It will be a pity and sad to leave the students and some co-workers but it is time and possibility to go and grow something more permanent. The old students will be allowed to pick up the courses also at my new job but in practical it might be a bit far for them because the job will be in the next town.

The spring is the time to sow and grow. I am happy to be allowed to have long farewell with my old students so that I can take care of them all the way to the term end and we all can get ready for the change, be able to wait the wind to arise, to spread our wings and fly. We all will be just fine, I am sure.

My blog stays the same and this is not farewell to me and you. I will be here also in the future! See you soon! Meanwhile sow your own seeds, if you have not done so yet, and see them grow. In these difficult times beauty of the nature gives us comfort and pleasure. It also empowers us.

WarmForHer

Before I made something WarmForMe. Now I designed and knit something warm for YoungLady. She is taller than I am and has longer tights than I have. To add the length I just added three rows between each decoration pattern. If you compare these two pairs, you can see easily what I mean. This is an excellent and easy way to stretch out the length: to leave some space between figures.

I used AAW (50% our own ethic produced arctic angora wool, 40% ethic produced FinnSheep wool, 10% nylon) (100g = 238m) for the leg parts and Novita 7 veljestä Lapintaika yarn (75% wool, 24% polyamidi, 1% polyester) (100g = 200m) for the decoration and foot parts.

napaJ

In April 2023 I encourage you to read a book that tells about Asia. For the challenge I picked up Finnish Minna Eväsoja's book "Melkein geisha" (= almost geisha). I read it in Finnish and it seems not to be translated. It tells about her years and studies in Japan. It bases on her diary notes and gives honest voice to an alien living in and studying Japanese culture and traditions. Also, it gives the eyes and opens the covered windows for the reader to see it all. Before this book I didn't know much about Japan and its culture. At some point reading caused emotional and educational anxiety. According to the subtitle, it really is charming and insane Japan. For example I didn't know children rights are so poor in Japan. After reading this book I understand quite clear everything how Japan has shown to me before. I like the book because it is objective and  informing, speaking about the topics straight but not for or against. It gives the reader the freedom to form out ones own point of the view.

The 2023 Reading Challenge No4

The Reading Challenge 2023 is here!

On 2023 I encourage you to read books from different places. No other rules but geographical location. You can choose the genre!

April 2023 theme is Asia!

Asia, so far away from me. Past years when I did international yoga teacher qualification I've studied about ancient Indian and Tibetan philosophies and methods. Despite of that I have not read much Asian literature so there's not much I can recommend for this month theme. (Which is actually good because Reading Challenges should be educative also to me.) On 2022 I read one Asian book. It was the book I would never pick up! Now I want to pick it up again 😅
