Pink 💝 Grey

I designed and knit girly woollen socks. I used AAW snag grey yarn (40% our own ethic produced arctic angora wool, 40% FinnSheep wool, 10% arctic dog wool and 10% nylon) and Novita 7 veljestä  yarn (shade pink) (75 % wool, 25% polyamide) (100g = 200m) for them. I think the grey heels and toes calm down the very pink effect quite well.

SnuggleUp SnagGrey

WoollenSockSeason is back here. For this pair I designed and used our own AAW snag grey yarn (40% our own ethic produced arctic angora wool, 40% FinnSheep wool, 10% arctic dog wool and 10% nylon) and Nykälän Lanka's Amanda (75% wool, 25% polyamide) (100g = 200m).

I usually knit just the basic style woollen socks because they are for the real life use; not just hanging around in the house by the fire place and making pretty pics. This pair is for a hunter to be used in the wild & real life. When He messes them up in swamp mud in duck hunting none's heart will be broken and the feet will satay warm despite they are wet.

Blue 💙 Grey

Last September I knit BlueBellSocks. This time I designed and used the same Pirta Villanalle yarn (100% wool) (50g = 135m) but mixed it with our own AAW snag grey yarn (40% our own ethic produced arctic angora wool, 40% FinnSheep wool, 10% arctic dog wool and 10% nylon). I used both yarn at the same time. You can see how the snag grey shade totally changes the outfit.

For the toes I used only snag grey to balance it all a bit. I just replaced the blue shade with another grey yarn so that the thickness stayed the same.

RomanticShoppingBags

I was given old curtains by a friend. Years ago she bought them from a second hand shop. They ended up to me a year ago. They are perfect to create eco-friendly everlasting shopping bags. You don't need a brand new fabric to sew one. You can even use the legs of your own old jeans! Just get inspired, it is a matter of an attitude.

I have used fabric shopping bags for 25 years. I remember, when I started to use them, other people stared at me in the shops like a freak. Usually they wondered if I had no money to buy a plastic shopping bag. Well, I have saved for about 400€ by now by using fabric shopping bags. But I have saved much more nature resources and amount of the waste. I still have some of the oldest bags in use.

To be honest, slowly, year by year, as you have noticed, more people are using everlasting shopping  bags. Someone always must be the first. I was not the first one to use a fabric shopping bag at a food shop but for sure I was that in small northern villages. Despite there was a time when the plastic bags were not even invent yet and people used fabric bags or baskets, at my time, 25 years ago, people had forgot it. Sometimes I felt embarrassed because of the stares and questions, but I always held my head high up and kept my mind. And see, now it is a fashion! I was just 25 years too early. But I am happy, I was right and a good example.

I love the print of the fabric and didn't want to break it. That's why I bought ribbon for the handles instead of sewing them as I usually do.

I used as much as possible the old seams. One of them had a fold into which I put the elastic band. I think it looks even more cute!

CottonCandySkirts

This time I designed and made two tutus. SantaClaus asked Me to do so. Yes, I know SantaClaus very well. He is a good friend of mine.

I have used tulle for petticoats and tutus before. Now I used all that was left over from the old projects. I also used left over elastic band and pink fabric for the waist and some ribbon from MyStorageBoxes filled with treasures bought from Tallinn, Estonia.

Next Christmas two little girls will be very happy with their CottonCandySkirts. Until that the tutus be hiding in MyWardrope.

SceneCases

Do you remember My WinterScene and SummerScene? I finished them last autumn but have been far too busy because of MyStudies to do anything with them before this. Now I sew them to turn out two pillow cases. The zipper is recycled and all the fabrics are left over materials from other projects. The fabrics are from the boxes I inherit from my grandmother like the tapestry scenes.

RetroBags

This supposed to be MyApron when I was a small child. My grandmother never finished it. Now I found out there was enough fabric in it to make a small shopping bag of it for Me. I don't fit in the apron anymore but for sure My shopping will fit in.

I made actually three LittleBags. It is my own design  but very easy to make by anyone who can sew just a little bit.
