BlanketNo 10 (berry porridge)

I've crocheted one more BlanketNo 10 with this easy giant GrannySquare method. It is similar to first BlanketNo 10. Made of four balls of House Lurex yarn (76% polyacryl, 23% wool, 1% metallic) (227g = 238m). The shade is blue-pink.

The outfit is tasty traditional childhood memory "lappapuuro ja mustikkamaito" which means "Finnish whipped porridge and blueberry milk". Traditionally we use lingonberries for the porridge and pour milk over it when eating. Blueberry milk is like a home made milk shake except no shake or ice cream. In my childhood I didn't no any better food or drink than these.

Now there are two same size but different shade blankets and one bigger one

Very beautiful pair of blankets.

TableLoom

I had a bargain at second hand shop! I found table loom. You can weave max 35cm wide project by it. None had loved it for decades. See how dusty it was. You can notice that easiest by zooming at the warp. By now I have taken off the warp and washed it all. This time, because it is still winter (see the snow behind my deck fence), I did the washing in my bathroom and dried it all immediately in the warmth of Finnish sauna. My bigger loom I washed on the terrace deck.

My new table loom needs just few bolts to fasten the beater but otherwise it is in excellent shape. I paid just 15€ of it! I am very excited to make some bands, scarfs and table runners by it.

BlanketNo10 (brown)

Earlier I designed and crocheted blue BlanketNo10. This time I repeated it in brown shade. I used brown shade House Lurex yarn (76% polyacryl, 23% wool, 1% metallic) (227g = 238m).

This brown BlanketNo10 is bigger than the blue one. For the blue I used 4 balls of the yarn. It means 4 x 227g = 908g. For this brown one I used 6 balls. Which means the blanket weights 1,362kg!

Despite of the size and weight, it is not too big nor too heavy. It is a fabulous cover to hide under or sit on.

It is not difficult at all to make it. You just start in the middle and crochet one single huge giant GrannySquare!

TraditionalDecoratedMittens

I just finished a pair of mittens. The mittens are just basic ones. The traditional decoration is designed by Kirsi Mukkala. She has brought it to a knitting pattern from our traditional Sámi Costume Design. So please, even you could knit similar from the picture, please don't do it, because it is our traditional cultural costume. The figure and shades of the stripes are like our logo, trademark or brand. It separates us from the others, even from other Sámi tribes.

I am Sámi

Like every year, today -6.2.2022- is The National Sámi Day. I am Sámi. I am not alone. Still, very often in my life I have been silenced what comes to the cultural expression in my art&crafts. Sometimes I just can't keep it inside like I've been told to. Not today. I am free to say I am Sámi, I am Forest Sámi. Below you can read our declaration:

Declaration of the native Sami people in Finland

Our identity is Sami. We are a living part of the Sami people.

We are Sami in the sense referred to in section 17 § 3 paragraph. in the Constitution.

International human rights treaties also apply to us.
