Patchwork Autumn Pillow No1

On the begin there was my own design idea.

It turn out from a pile of squares to the lines of squares.

I re-arranged them.

I sew them all together.

I stitched it with padding.

I used some velcro for the back side.

Oh! It turn out to be a lovely autumn pillow!

Bag first aid -tutorial

This is very common catastrophe among school bags.

It is good to know it is very easy and low cost problem to get fixed up at home.

Unpick the seam.

Unpick everything. As you can see originally the straps were not fastened proper. Very common mistake the factories do. They save time and trouble at the most important part of the back bag.

Tidy it all up.

Fasten the straps first.

Then fasten the band.

Secure the band and at the same time you create extra stitches for the straps at the point from where they usually get tear out.

Fasten then the lining / cover / lid structure.

Now you have there actually 3 stitches to hold the straps.

Bias tape forms out the 4th stitch. It makes actually 2 more than this school bag originally had. Usually they sew the straps by one stitch and then it all by this bias tape. I use it only to neaten the seam allowance to be hidden.

It took me actually 30 minutes to fix the school bag and take the pics for you. From the 1st second I started to the last one when I stopped. Very cost effective skill to learn!

FallingLeaves

WARNING:
THIS POST INCLUDES PICS OF HUNTING
WHICH MAY FEEL OFFENSIVE!

September is month with colors in the nature.

Autumn makes the woods sound bustling and fussy.

Still on the last Friday she was such a baby chasing falling laves.

Yesterday her life changed. She wore her safety vest and transmitter, was packed up into the car and taken deep into the wild woods.

It was her very 1st working day but she did a great job. Here she gets familiar with moose calf.

Her 1st working day lasted over 12 hours but she did so well. We were very happy to notice her training program was succeed and she didn't got exhausted at all. At home she was fed more, massaged and given pain killers just in case. Then she fell asleep and was ready to go back again this morning. She is not baby anymore. She doesn't chase falling leaves anymore. She has found there is much more in the life for her.

AAW BasketWeave Socks

Here is a pair of my own design BasketWeave stitch woollen socks size 38. I used our own AAW wool for them (50% our own ethic produced arctic angora wool, 40% ethic produced FinnSheep wool, 10% nylon) (100g = 238m). This is the 1st pair of socks I knit of AAW. These start the pack of 4 pairs which I will send out for a friend as a thank you gift. Very beautiful, extremely warm and very unique.

BabyBlanketNo5

Do you remember BabyBlanketNo4 which I crocheted last summer of very old yarn from Novita which has not been sale for ages (48% wool, 48% polyacryl and 3% chlorofibre) (100g = 110m)? For BabyBlanketNo5 I used more of it mixed with lighter version called Panda Sport (100% wool) (100g = 175m).

This is for that cute little big brother whose baby sister had BabyBlanketNo4 as birthday gift, This is for his next Xmas. He has seen me doing it and is very happy about it when he found out it actually is for him!  :)

It is big enough for him to cuddle under it but not too big to get lost under.

It is my own design and again challenged by the fact these yarns have not been sale for ages.

I actually needed to do the edges twice...

...but I am happy with the result.

Now it all is packed for Christmas 2016.

Busy Autumn

Autumn creates beautiful colors in MyWorld. The frost was here already. My BurnetRose has tiny RoseBerries and RowanTrees are blushing shyly.

I swap some Apples to pumpkins and made 2 kg tasty pumpkin marmalade spiced with lemon and ginger.

AutumnSeason is always busy in MyWorld. Today I needed to help Him out to fix some hunting accessories. I must tell you He tried to do it by Himself but Anne Of Green Gables was very upset. It was unheard-of, rude and shameless that a MAN opened Her cabinet, pulled Her out and tried to use Her! No way, She said! She is very moral old-fashioned girl! I am sure I heard Her sigh when I arrived home and saved Her from the depravity of masculine hands!

The Cross Stitch Book

The Cross Stitch Book by Dorothy Wood is a stiff package of information and designs. If you can afford only one stitching book this might be The One; if you have a magnifier. The only minus factor of this book is small text, small pictures and small charts,  There are far too many things and words on the pages. This book should be published in bigger format. Without magnifier it is not suitable for people with impaired sight. Otherwise it is very eligible opus with sections of Celtic and medieval, Traditional, Folk art and Contemporary designs. There is also section of Introduction which includes also history and guides for stitching.

This is published on 2000 and available at second hand with low cost.

It seems Dorothy Wood never lets you down. Try her Simply Sparkling Christmas Beading too.

SaddleCover

Because of BigChange I sort out also all my fabric. There was still left some water repellent white outdoor fabric. I used it to make a sample of SaddleCover. I was happy to notice it fit well.

White is not very practical color for horse stable use. That's why this is just a prototype and later on I will make another one but it needs shopping at fabric shop.

It covers well the saddle. It is very practical when you want to avoid the saddle to get wet before you sit on it.

Of course it covers the saddle from dust and dirt too when the saddle is not in use.

James Herriot & Only One Woof

Today I took James Herriot's Only One Woof illustrated by Peter Barrett. I made a card for DearChildhoodFriend to thank for the apples and wish her Happy Birthday.

I used the same idea than yesterday.

Hope the card brings merry greetings from the past.

I also made her a paper bookmark.

Both pictures are from the same page of the book Only One Woof.

I have packed up a parcel for her. It includes the card, bookmark, four raffle tickets (hopefully she will win!!!) and few other things that will remind as a secret between me and her.   :)

PS. The raffle tickets are up to share of moose meat; adult or calf. Wild, free and certainly organic.

Elisabeth Hjortvid's En lagom liten ponny

Elisabeth Hjortvid is Swedish author. Margareta Nordqvist has illustrated her book about a pony that is appropriate small.   :)

This book is again one of those I have bought just by 0,20€ and no one else wanted it. The pictures are beautiful despite Margareta Nordqvist is not my favorite illustrator.

I made a pretty and simple card for important 3rd birthday party for a horse girl!

The idea for the card is very simple. Opening the card shows more. Nothing else is needed!
